To specify which type of login screen you see — if you see one at all — head to System Preferences, click Accounts, and then click the Login Options button. To change settings specific to your account — no matter what your access level — log in with your account, open System Preferences, and click Accounts. From here, you can change your account password and picture, the card marked as yours within the Address Book, and the Login Items launched automatically when you log in.
The confirmation dialog box shown in Figure 3 appears. Although Mac OS X displays the login screen after two minutes, someone can still saunter up and click the Cancel button, thereby gaining access to your stuff. Therefore, make it a practice to always click the Log Out button on this screen before your hand leaves the mouse! But all programs were totally reset, unregistered, you name it.

That's stupid, it would be easier to reinstall from scratch since then at least you set it up as you are installing. I had fresh image made just prior to this experiment on external USB drive and I recovered from it back to where I was.

I am not sure if that finder is not single user thing too, not just that command line that I did the stuff at? Is that SO difficult to make it so we could change that name 'legally'?? I mean would the sky come down if we were allowed that? Why Why no answer, go back to my trusty windows and thanking my god I only maintain Macs, not actually use them day to day.
True, but doubt he is around.

At least if you meant him. I have been trying to install Lion clean on all six macs desktops, laptops in the house and I figured I could do one install only with everything configured and then if somebody didn't want something, he can uninstall it or just remove icon from dock However I made that first template install with particular user name first last names for the home directory, the one in finder where all your personal directories are and which can't be easily renamed after you name it in the first boot up after install.
So I tried to reset the Mac to give me that first install OS configuration during which I used the generic name for the home directory but found I reset even all programs and totally everything to day one I suspect that update to current version of Lion changed things inside the system, maybe even with eye to prevent such resetting, who knows, I wouldn't put it past Apple. Its like I had Photoshop where you get Adobe Application Manager popping up once in a while and meanwhile running in background all the time and I tried to disable that behavior by removing it I did backup my changes and so I tried to revert them but the directory where AAM was no longer existed on system But now it beats me if I can figure where the program resides, it is in different place altogether and would take linux guru or at least mac expert to find out.
I think Apple is switching the user setup files like that. I suppose that keeps some of the black market in check, like what you pointed out.

VanDivX Member Oct-7 pm If I wanted just to remove the Username, the one you can't normally change, would the following line be sufficient? RobNyc Premium Member Oct-7 pm I dont know what exactly just happened on my iMac running Lion but after I ran those commands now my system is unbootable. RobNyc Premium Member Oct-8 pm So it looks these instructions will work on a System where Lion came installed originally or if you're still running Snow Leopard.
